Area Supervisor – Welding & Fabrication
Location: Harlan, IA
Salary:$55,000 – $70,000 annually
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
 
Are you an experienced manufacturing leader with a background in welding and metal fabrication? We are seeking an Area Supervisor – Welding & Fabrication to lead daily production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing employees, driving operational excellence, and continuously improving manufacturing processes.

What You'll Do
As the Area Supervisor, you will oversee daily fabrication operations while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and employee development.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supervise daily welding and fabrication production activities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 5 to 10 production employees
  • Plan daily work schedules and assign labor to meet production goals
  • Monitor workflow, productivity, and labor utilization
  • Ensure production deadlines and customer delivery commitments are met
  • Partner with Engineering, Planning, and Operations to improve manufacturing performance
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, quality requirements, and manufacturing procedures
  • Conduct employee coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective actions when appropriate
  • Promote cross-training and workforce development
  • Lead departmental safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations
 
Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who have:
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in a welding and fabrication environment
  • Previous supervisory experience leading 5 to 10 employees
  • Strong background in welding, fabrication, metal stamping, forming, or punching operations
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and production scheduling
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP experience preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
An Associate degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
