Job Responsibilities

Area Sales Manager Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train sales representatives.
  • Lead reps to a hunter sales mentality, set individual goals, and conduct regular 30-60-90 reviews and pipeline check-ins.
  • Enforce sales-process discipline: qualify leads before pricing, use proposals before agreements, and protect pricing integrity.
  • Administer the Sales Authority & Deal Approval Policy, including approval of discounts, terms, and surcharge structures.
  • Own the area sales goal and team quota; build and execute the annual strategic sales plan across all target segments.
  • Personally develop and manage a portfolio of major accounts, driving expansion, renewals, and add-on business.
  • Lead RFP responses, proposal development and negotiate large opportunities.
  • Target high-value segments: hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, skilled nursing/long-term care, elite restaurants and hospitality groups, and country/golf clubs.
  • Senior point of contact for strategic accounts, managing stakeholders and escalating issues to leadership when needed.
  • Occasionally conduct major account calls with Service Department, inventory reviews, and reporting for major clients to demonstrate value and secure renewals.
  • Partner with Service and Operations management monthly to retain large medical and hospitality accounts and ensure operational alignment.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity (bids, pricing, service gaps) to identify and win new opportunities.
  • With Corporate assistance, build and execute targeted marketing campaigns and lead-generation workflows using CRM, automation, and AI tools.
  • Represent Morgan in industry and networking groups and coordinate plant tours for prospects.
  • Set, ensure, and execute pricing and agreement terms that adhere to Area strategic plan.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and produce weekly sales flash, forecast, and performance reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

Area Sales Manager Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of successful outside/B2B service sales experience, preferably in medical/healthcare or hospitality; prior sales-management or team-leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and of building or coaching a sales team.
  • Experience with value-added service selling, proposal/RFP development, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance-management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills; able to write clear proposals, reports, and business correspondence.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with strong time management and CRM/technology proficiency.
  • Confident, operationally focused decision-maker who can set firm boundaries with clients while protecting margin and service quality.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record; reliable local travel across the territory.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
