About the Role
We are a growing Florida-based security services company operating client sites across the state. We are hiring an Area Operations Manager to be the day-to-day operational leader for our field team — the person who keeps sites staffed, guards accountable, and clients happy, and who acts as the primary decision-maker for daily operational issues.
This role reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and is designed to be the operational backbone of the company. You will be trusted to make real decisions in real time, not to route every call up the chain. If you are someone who takes ownership, moves fast, and wants to build a career with a company that is investing in its people, this is the seat for you.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 90 days:
- You have visited every site, met every site supervisor, and know each contract's key requirements.
- You are the first call for site supervisors.
- Callouts and unfilled posts are being handled without escalation in most cases.
In your first 6 months:
- Overtime stabilized and holding at or below target.
- Late clock-ins and no-shows are being tracked, addressed, and reduced.
- Client satisfaction is stable or improving across all sites.
- You have identified and led at least one process improvement that made your job easier.
In your first year:
- You are the trusted operational leader of the field organization.
- Your KPI dashboard tells a clear story of a well-run operation.
- You are ready to take on more scope as the company grows.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations
- Own day-to-day operations across all company sites, ensuring consistent service delivery and contract compliance.
- Visit sites regularly using the company vehicle to monitor performance and support site supervisors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for site supervisors and guards during business hours, resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain reasonable on-call availability for after-hours emergencies as defined in the on-call schedule.
- Escalate only issues that genuinely require the VP of Operations' attention.
Staffing & Scheduling
- Ensure all posts are filled using the guard tracking software; proactively identify and resolve staffing gaps before they impact clients.
- Partner with site supervisors to ensure schedules are entered accurately and on time each week.
- Follow up on late clock-ins, no-shows, and other attendance issues; enforce accountability consistently.
- Monitor and manage overtime; ensure overtime is approved in advance except in genuine emergencies.
- Develop staffing plans for ongoing and new contracts.
Recruiting & Training
- Recruit, interview, and hire new guards as needed to meet staffing requirements.
- Onboard and train new guards on post orders, company policy, and site-specific procedures.
- Support the implementation of post orders and standard operating procedures for new and existing contracts.
Client & Contract Support
- Assist with new contract activations, including staffing, post order development, and go-live planning.
- Build accountability systems to track site performance, compliance, and guard conduct.
- Monitor client satisfaction across all assigned sites and address concerns before they impact the relationship.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Finance/Payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of hours, overtime, and pay adjustments.
- Coordinate with Human Resources on hiring, onboarding, disciplinary matters, and personnel records.
- Report regularly to the VP of Operations on staffing levels, overtime, contract compliance, and site performance.
Emergency Coverage
- In genuine emergencies where no other coverage is available, may fill a post on a short-term basis. This is not a routine part of the role.

Most sites are within a one-hour radius of our main office. You will drive a company vehicle for site visits and be reachable by phone during business hours. On-call responsibilities for after-hours emergencies are shared and defined in advance.
Why Join Us
- You will be a critical member of the leadership team, not a cog.
- You will have real decision-making authority from day one.
- You will report to a VP of Operations who is actively investing in building professional systems and processes — you will help shape them.
- You will have room to grow as the company grows.
