    Job Summary

    Daiso Area Managers are responsible for maximizing company profits. As an Area Manager you will coordinate and evaluate the merchandising, operational, and expense control programs for your assigned stores.The Area Manager is responsible for meeting budgeted area revenue goals and will direct a store management team to ensure excellence in standards. Will provide leadership and vision to motivate the team to daily pursue the company mission and create a positive work culture.  Success depends on your ability to hire, train, and motivate your team in our fast-paced, constantly changing and growing environment. Will lead up to 8 Daiso stores. 

     

    Essential Job Duties

    • Meeting and exceeding operational goals as related to sales, profitability and expenses through implementation of established programs and processes

    • Accountable for achieving the sales plan and ensuring that the labor budget is meeting company goals

    • Maintain effectiveness in work tasks; adjust effectively to work within new work structures, processes, and requirements. Ensures required work/tasks are completed efficiently

    • Lead and inspire stores to be product obsessed, customer-focused, innovative, fast-moving and team-oriented

    • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement in sales and profitability, improved productivity, and enhanced customer experience through more effective operational processes

    • Maintain relationships throughout the organization to provide further sources of productive collaboration and feedback to improve operational processesPeople Management - Sourcing, Recruiting, Selecting and developing diverse talent for the area

     
    • Manage operational budgets

    • Develop and implement short- and long-term goals

    • Participate in new store openings or future projects as needed

    • Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, and communication skills with all levels of management

    • Demonstrated abilities with Human Resource and Asset Protection issues

     

    Required Education, Certifications and Work-Related Experience

    • Education: High School or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred

    • Experience: at least 3-5 years retail with at least 2 years of multi-store experience

    • Strong experience in discount, grocery, drug store or variety store multi-unit management desired.

     

    Job Scope/Impact

    • Has the authority to direct the employee’s daily work activities.  Has authority to undertake or recommend the following employment actions:  hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews.

    • Decisions have major implications on the management and operation of an area within a department.  The job may contribute to important strategy, operational, and business decisions that affect the department.

    • Problems are highly varied, complex, and often non-recurring, requiring novel and creative approaches to resolution.  New concepts and approaches may have to be developed.

    • Results are defined; sets own goals and determine how to accomplish results with some guidelines.  The supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.

    • Has full responsibility for planning, monitoring, and managing a departmental budget.

    • Has frequent contact with others outside of workgroup, both inside and outside DAISO.  Results have major implications on the management and operations of an area within a department.
