As our Area Manager of Construction Materials, you'll have the opportunity to lead one of our most important growth markets, driving the safety, profitability, customer relationships, and long-term success of multiple operations throughout Arizona.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Business Leadership
- Lead operations across multiple plants and facilities throughout the assigned region.
- Drive strategic initiatives that improve profitability, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and market growth.
- Develop annual business plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Manage resources to maximize operational performance and return on assets.
Financial Performance
- Own area profitability and financial results.
- Monitor revenue, margins, production costs, and key performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost optimization.
- Partner with leadership to develop and execute growth strategies.
Team Development
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain exceptional employees and future leaders.
- Support Plant Managers and Sales Representatives in achieving operational and sales objectives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure employees maintain required training, certifications, and professional development.
Customer & Market Growth
- Build strong relationships with customers, contractors, and industry partners.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand market presence.
- Support major contract pursuits and strategic customer initiatives.
- Represent Suncore as a trusted partner in the marketplace.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a world-class safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental standards, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws.
- Promote operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of safety and integrity.
What We're Looking For
Our preferred candidate is a current Area Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager, Market Manager, or senior leader within construction materials, aggregates, ready-mix, asphalt, mining, or heavy civil construction, but we are able to train for the right candidate.
Successful candidates typically bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction materials, heavy civil construction, aggregates, ready-mix, or related industries
- Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing budgets and profitability
- Proven success leading large teams and developing future leaders
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of OSHA and DOT requirements
- Experience with HCSS, HeavyBid, BCMI, or similar construction management systems
