The Felician Sisters of North America is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Archivist to work with the Archivist in processing materials in the Felician Archive, located in the Welcome Center of Madonna University. The life and charitable activities of the Felician Sisters has created correspondence, reports, audio and video recordings, photographs, and other documents. The Assistant Archivist will help organize, select, catalogue, and process materials that are housed in the Felician Archive. This position will help examine files relating to the Felician Sisters collections, reviews pertinent historical literature, and analyze material to determine content and the appropriate level and type of arrangement and description as well as develop plans for accomplishing the work, including estimates of necessary resources. The Assistant Archivist will help arrange and describe archival material in accordance with established standards and best practices, at an appropriate level of detail and effort, and in a timely manner.

2. Appraises, preserves, arranges, and describes physical and born-digital archival collections, creates finding aids for these collections in line with professional standards and best practices, rehousing and applying basic preservation measures as appropriate and creating database records.
3. Determines preservation and conservation issues of materials and elects best practices for resolving issues. Archival collections include a wide array of materials and formats including archival records, personal papers, photographic and other pictorial materials, maps and architectural drawings, audiovisual and born-digital materials, and artifacts.
4. Organization, preservation, and description of the collection: proper storage, handling, and conservation techniques.
5. Assists with on demand and outsourced digitization and conservation projects, including preparation of materials, creation of descriptive item level information and onsite scanning, as needed.
6. Assists in maintaining and standardizing legacy database records, tables, lists, etc. and uploading them online as needed.
7. Assists in identifying and assessing the archival value of materials.
8. Processing of the collection, including physical arrangement (sorting, boxing, labeling).
9. Provides access to collections through responding to research requests.
10. Inventorying and describing of materials.
11. Creating collection guides and other basic finding aids.
12. Utilizing recognized archival and records management practices
13. Communicating with staff and Sisters.
14. Attends and participates in meetings, committees, seminars, conferences, and in-service training programs as directed.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
