Project Manager (Architecture)
Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for reviewing construction and/or architectural documents for new and existing projects. This role oversees project coordination, ensures code compliance, supports client communication, and manages internal team workflows.
Must have quick service restaurant and/or retail project experience
Responsibilities
Project & Team Management
- Lead and oversee work completed by Draftspersons and Assistant Project Managers.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery.
- Coordinate with clients, building officials, landlords, and consultants.
- Review state and local code compliance for assigned projects.
- Conduct site surveys as needed.
Architectural & Technical Execution
- Prepare and develop layouts and architectural drawings based on client requirements.
- Coordinate and review drawings prepared by Draftspersons.
- Use REVIT, AutoCAD, and related tools to develop layouts and detailed diagrams.
- Consult technical handbooks, guidelines, and assist with landlord research.
- Interpret and apply all relevant state and local code requirements.
- Prepare documentation for project authorization and bidding processes.
- Maintain accurate hard-copy and electronic records, drawings, and office reports.
- Provide clarification and support to clients on architectural requirements.
- Ensure compliance with architectural standards and guidelines.
- Support Project Manager across multiple ongoing projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Job Captain in an architectural firm.
- Ability to interpret construction data, engineering calculations, and architectural drawings.
- Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD, with strong 3D design skills.
- Working knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, or Illustrator.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience drafting retail or commercial construction documents.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role includes supervisory duties and requires collaborative work with various departments.
Work Environment
This role may be performed remotely but reports to the Paramus, NJ office as required.
Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary. Regular activities include:
- Talking, hearing, typing, and computer use.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stand, or use a stool for file retrieval.
- Repetitive motion and general office mobility.
Position Type & Schedule
- Full-time position (40+ hours per week).
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Schedule flexibility may be required based on business needs.
Travel
Minimal to no travel is expected.
