About the Role - Architectural Drafter (Intermediate)
Our client is looking to add an intermediate Architectural Drafter to support the production of high-quality construction documents, working alongside the Principal, interior designers, project managers, and architectural staff. The work spans luxury residential and boutique commercial interiors. This is a full time, in-office role based in the firm's New York studio, with compensation of $85,000 - $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce architectural drawings including floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules.
- Develop permit, bid, and construction drawing sets.
- Translate design concepts, sketches, and redlines into accurate construction documents.
- Maintain company drafting standards, layering systems, and drawing consistency.
- Revise and update drawing sets throughout the project lifecycle, including permit revisions and as-built documentation.
- Coordinate drawings with designers, project managers, and architectural staff.
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as required.
- Incorporate field measurements, RFIs, and construction revisions into updated drawings.
- Identify drawing conflicts early and collaborate on solutions.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and document construction progress.
Qualifications
- Degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
- Three to five years of experience in residential drafting or architecture.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to produce a full construction document set.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Photoshop, SketchUp, or Rhino is a plus.
- Mac OS user.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, detailing, and construction documents.
- Ability to read and interpret redlines and markups accurately.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and conceptual skills.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability.
- Excellent communication skills when coordinating with architects, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities across multiple concurrent projects and shifting deadlines.
