Architectural Designer

Transit & Rail Infrastructure | Design-Build Projects

Join a team delivering some of the region"s most impactful transportation infrastructure projects. We are seeking Architectural Designers at both junior and intermediate experience levels to support a major Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Design-Build program. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale transit projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and contribute to the development of critical public infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Produce architectural drawings, plans, details, and construction documents for transit and infrastructure projects.
  • Support project delivery through design development, drafting, and production activities using MicroStation.
  • Prepare coordinated drawing packages and assist with multidisciplinary design integration.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and discipline leads to meet project milestones and deliverables.
  • Support Design-Build project execution while maintaining compliance with client and agency standards.
  • Coordinate within document control and project management systems to ensure design accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with technical reviews, design revisions, and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s degree in Architecture or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of architectural design and production experience.
  • Strong experience preparing construction documents and technical drawings.
  • Experience with MicroStation preferred; candidates with strong AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software experience and the ability to quickly learn MicroStation will be considered.
  • Experience supporting transportation, transit, infrastructure, public-sector, or large-scale commercial projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple project priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MTA, LIRR, NYCT, Amtrak, or other transportation agencies.
  • Familiarity with OpenBuildings Designer and Bentley 3D applications.
  • Experience using ProjectWise or other document management platforms.
  • Previous Design-Build project experience.
  • Understanding of transportation facility, station, rail, or infrastructure design.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
