    Professionalism: The student will demonstrate dependability in the work schedule as well as considerable attention to detail in maintaining databases and inventories critical to the work.

    Technology: The student will use a range of technology, such as Photography, Photoshop and Excel, to maintain and supplement archival work and inventories.

    This position is in the Department of History & Archaeology and the Collins Institute.

    • possess a number of skills connected with the processing of archaeological

    materials

    • assist the director in processing pottery and objects to prepare for

    publication, as well as management of the extensive corpus of materials and

    documents in the lab

    • update and maintain the database, including all digitization and archiving of

    data

    • learn how to use a variety of computer skills, including excel, access,

    photoshop, adobe illustrator, scanning, etc.

    • help volunteers/students with restoration of pottery
    • be able to work without constant supervision and be proactive about

    maintaining the lab operation

    • must have organizational skills; also time-management skills

    Required Qualifications

    • good work ethic
    • able to work without supervision
    • good computer skills or willingness to learn new technology
    • good work ethic, responsibility for the safety and security of antiquities on

    permanent loan from another country

    • willing to ask questions to ensure accuracy
    • good written and oral skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • experience or background in the social sciences with interest in archaeology
    • work experience, e.g., in organizational strategies, use of computer, ability

    to work with others

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to lift and move boxes of pottery, as required for processing and

    study

    • Need to be careful and always aware of navigating close quarters, e.g.,

    tables covered with objects, pottery on floor, etc. Must be responsible in this

    regard (i.e., not clumsy)
