Description

Senior Electrical Engineer - Industrial Power Systems

If you're an experienced electrical engineer who loves solving complex industrial power challenges, this role puts you at the center of high‑impact design work. You'll lead AC power system design from 120V up to 15kV, develop PLC‑based control solutions, and shape the electrical direction of major industrial projects. You'll work closely with designers, project teams, and field personnel while helping grow a dynamic satellite office supporting large‑scale industrial design operations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead industrial power system design for AC systems from 120V-15kV and PLC control applications.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations including short circuit, voltage drop, arc flash, cable/conduit sizing, lighting, and heat trace.
  • Develop complete electrical drawing packages: one‑lines, installation details, panel schedules, motor schematics, routing plans, and field wiring diagrams.
  • Write clear equipment specifications for transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and other power distribution components.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC and relevant NFPA standards.
  • Guide and mentor electrical designers to maintain quality and consistency across deliverables.
  • Support field activities by reviewing installations, troubleshooting issues, and validating design intent.
  • Use modern engineering tools including Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP, and SKM.
  • Collaborate with project teams to clarify requirements, present solutions, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Manage documentation and priorities to keep projects organized and on schedule.
  • Follow safety practices during site visits involving ladders, stairs, temperature extremes, varying air quality, and noise.
  • Occasional travel to client facilities or other office locations.

What You Bring

  • Electrical Engineering degree (BSEE or Engineering Technology) with a power systems focus.
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial power systems and power distribution.
  • Strong AC power systems knowledge from low voltage through medium voltage.
  • Hands‑on experience with key calculations: short circuit, voltage drop, arc flash, cable/conduit sizing, lighting, heat trace.
  • Ability to design and interpret electrical drawings across all major industrial deliverables.
  • Deep NEC/NFPA knowledge for compliant industrial design.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for 3D/2D electrical modeling.
  • Experience with ETAP or SKM for power system studies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with designers, engineers, and clients.
  • Solid organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to perform physical field tasks such as climbing, kneeling, reaching, and navigating industrial environments.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally.

Bonus Skills

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience supporting large industrial design programs or satellite office growth
  • Ability to mentor designers and support multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong commitment to safety practices in industrial environments

Work Environment

This position is Hybrid based in a downtown Greenville office with paid parking and a collaborative, professional atmosphere. Most work involves design and analysis in a comfortable office setting, with periodic visits to industrial client sites. Field visits may include exposure to heat, cold, noise, ladders, stairs, and varying air quality. Safety equipment is provided and required. Occasional travel may be needed to support project work or coordination with other locations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $76.92/hr.
