DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible leadership of Team Members which includes recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for the department
- Develop and manage the implementation of department policies and procedures, including formal Standard Operating Procedures along with accompanying training policies, materials, and documentation
- Conduct department orientation classes, attraction training, Lifeguard training, and in-service training for Aquatics staff
- Clearly describe and assign responsibility and authority for successful department operations
- Recruit, select, train, and develop department Leads and Supervisors
- Ensure all certifications are current for all Lifeguards and Attendants
- Participate in the Manager-On-Duty (MOD) program for Tropic Falls
- Develop detailed, realistic, and comprehensive plans that support organizational objectives
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and departmental planning
- Achieve business goals and objectives set forth by the General Manager and Property Manager
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets for the Aquatics Department
- Support special events, group sales, and VIP experiences
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers, using tact and diplomacy for de-escalation, gathering accurate information, and resolving conflicts that arise with the team or guests
- Perform supervisory tasks, including scheduling, training, resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, corrective actions, and managing quality control
- Conduct daily and frequent site inspections to ensure the highest possible standards of safety, courtesy, cleanliness, and efficiency are met
- Assist in monitoring and managing water park capacity
- Assist in monitoring environmental conditions of the indoor water park structure and at the outdoor water park attractions
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop large teams
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a high-volume, public facing, aquatics facility/water park
- Projects a positive, professional, image to team and guests
- Ability to inspire and motivate team members to work together and exceed expectations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screen
- Able to work in sunny, hot, humid, cold, and rainy conditions
- Willing and able to work odd or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong communicator with ability to motivate a team, deliver quality results, and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Current, valid driver’s license
Desired Qualifications & Traits:
- College degree
- ILTP® Instructor
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
- E&A International Lifeguard Training Program® certification
Physical Requirements:
- Swim 200 yards in 5 ft of water and retrieve a 10 lb brick from bottom of pool
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in a humid, warm environment, and be immersed in water for extended periods of time
- Position sometimes requires the ability to lift, push, and pull at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
