The Woodlands Retirement Community is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and engaging Aquatics Fitness Instructor to lead and expand our aquatic fitness program for senior residents.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with older adults and is passionate about promoting health, wellness, mobility, and active living in a supportive retirement community.

The ideal candidate will create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment while encouraging residents of varying fitness and mobility levels to participate in aquatic activities.

Position Summary

The Aquatics Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning, developing, and leading safe, effective, and engaging aquatic fitness classes designed to meet the needs and abilities of senior residents. This position will also focus on enhancing and expanding the community's aquatics program by introducing new classes and activities that promote physical fitness, flexibility, mobility, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Plan, organize, and lead group aquatic fitness classes, including water aerobics, gentle exercise, stretching, and low-impact fitness activities.
• Develop and enhance the existing aquatics program by introducing new classes and activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities.
• Modify exercises to accommodate residents with varying mobility, fitness levels, and physical limitations.
• Promote a safe and supportive environment for all participants in and around the pool.
• Monitor residents during classes and respond appropriately to safety concerns or emergencies.
• Encourage resident participation and create a positive, engaging, and enjoyable class experience.
• Build positive relationships with residents while promoting health, wellness, and active living.
• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and proper storage of aquatic fitness equipment.
• Collaborate with the Activities and Wellness teams to coordinate programs and encourage resident engagement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, or Administrator.

Qualifications

• Previous experience teaching aquatic fitness classes preferred.
• Experience working with seniors, particularly in a retirement community, assisted living, or healthcare setting, strongly preferred.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications required.
• Ability to develop and lead engaging fitness activities for individuals with varying physical abilities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Energetic, patient, dependable, and enthusiastic about working with older adults.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
