This position participates in UNMC key shop responsibilities including key inventory, cutting keys by code, building key cores, and servicing lock and door hardware. This position assists the Lead Locksmith in many duties, but in learning all aspects of the position can fill in for the lead when needed. This position is meant to be a stepping stone to the Lead position. As the campus continues to grow, all new facilities, both University and Nebraska Medicine, are employing the Stanley Best/Dorma Kaba keying system instead of the Schlage system used exclusively at Nebraska Medicine. Nebraska Medicine facilities like the Lauritzen Outpatient Center, Buffett Cancer Center and other facilities that are remodeled transition to Stanley Best/Dorma Kaba as part of the enterprise physical access system. This position must be able to work closely with patient care departments and project management to ensure proper access and security needs are met. Some knowledge of the campus layout is helpful.

Possess extensive knowledge of key and door maintenance and operations

Ability to communicate effectively with customers (patients, visitors, management) required. Basic email and database skills required. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Training/certificate from accredited course offered by Dorma Kaba, Best, Schlage or other key system.

Preferred Experience:
