    Job Title:              Applications Engineer – Industrial Ovens
    Department:         Sales
    Date:                     1/30/2025
     
    SUMMARY:   Individuals in this position are the technical authority to the company’s industrial ovens product line. 
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
    • Primarily focus on sales activity and evaluating new opportunities
    • Provide technical support to the entire organization for the company’s industrial ovens product line
    • Review opportunities (RFQ’s) and specify company product to meet customer applications
    • Interact with customers while developing product solutions and closing new business
    • Prepare cost estimates for non-standard products
    • Perform necessary engineering calculations related to oven performance and sizing requirements
    • Prepare, send, and follow-up on quotations as assigned
    • Support engineering and production personnel in the design, build, testing, and installation of finished products
    • Other duties as assigned
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None
     
    QUALIFICATIONS: 
    • Must have in-depth industry knowledge of product application, design, and standards
    • Knowledge of product design and shop floor processes as required to estimate product cost 
    • Knowledge of fundamental calculations supporting product design
    • Fluent in CAD (AutoCAD/ SolidWorks) as is required to develop equipment layouts or proposal drawings
    • Basic knowledge of electrical controls
    • Excellent people skills as required for customer interaction and to team with company personnel in meeting customer expectations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering field, preferably mechanical is required with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience.  Additional relative experience may be considered for less formal education.  
     
    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    • Ability to write and analyze reports
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics 
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    • Excellent math skills are required
    • Must be able to perform engineering calculations employing algebra, trigonometry and geometry as required
    COMPUTER SKILLS:
    • Fluent in CAD as is required to develop equipment layouts or proposal drawings
    • Basic SolidWorks skills for layout purposes are a bonus
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and possess adequate skills to navigate and work within the company’s ERP and CRM software
    • Excellent typing skills are required
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The personal workstation is located on the 2nd floor.  The employee spends some time on shop floor. The majority of the time will be spent sitting in front of a computer and using the phone.
     
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    The work environment is a pleasant, temperature controlled, professional office in a manufacturing setting.  The employee works in the office but does have frequent interaction with personnel on the shop floor and may occasionally work in customers’ plants reviewing new applications or installed equipment.  The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed but does not require hearing protection. 
     
    TRAVEL:
    Some travel may be required to visit customer sites or attend trade shows.  Most travel is within the continental United States; however, a valid US Passport is required for visiting US Military bases and Department of Defense contractor facilities.
