Epitec is seeking to support a leading global automotive manufacturer by hiring an experienced Design & Release Engineer to support the development of underbody structural components. This role is responsible for the design, release, validation, change management, and ongoing maintenance of body structure components including front structure, dash cowl, floor panels, and reinforcements through full product development lifecycle activities.

Responsibilities
- Own underbody structural components from concept through production.
- Design and release sheet metal structural components including steel and aluminum parts.
- Support development of:
- Front Structure
- Dash Cowl
- Floor Panels
- Reinforcements
- Manage engineering releases and updates through production and ongoing product development.
- Perform engineering calculations and collaborate with CAE teams.
- Lead change management activities and support engineering change control processes.
- Maintain engineering BOM structures within FedeBOM/AVBOM systems.
- Coordinate supplier feasibility reviews for stamping and assembly operations.
- Support physical testing and component validation activities.
- Present engineering changes during Change Control Meetings.
- Work cross-functionally with suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and program teams.
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Experience as a Design & Release Engineer (DRE).
- Experience with automotive body structure components.
- Understanding of sheet metal design (steel and/or aluminum).
- Experience with APQP processes.
- Experience managing engineering change control/change management activities.
- Strong analytical and engineering calculation skills.
- Experience supporting component testing and validation.
- Ability to work onsite in Dearborn, MI 4 days per week.
Preferred
- Experience using:
- Experience working directly with suppliers on manufacturing feasibility.
- Body, chassis, or structural systems experience.
