Application Engineer (CNC Tool Grinding) - Mundelein, IL

Direct Hire | $90,000 - $120,000 base salary

Our client is a Swiss manufacturer of high-precision CNC tool and cutter grinding machines, with its North American headquarters in Mundelein, Illinois. We are hiring an Application Engineer to join the US applications team supporting customers across North America.

Responsibilities

• Run pre-sales demonstrations and test grinding for customers at the Mundelein technology center and at customer sites
• Develop and optimize grinding processes, including wheel selection, dressing strategies, and cycle-time and surface-finish improvement
• Install CNC grinding machines at customer sites, domestically and internationally
• Train customers on machine operation and programming, including tool-design software
• Troubleshoot application issues and support the field service team
• Provide application feedback to engineering and R&D
• Help develop training content for customers

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with CNC grinding machines; tool and cutter grinding strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of grinding processes: grinding wheels, dressing, coolants, and workholding
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
• CNC programming experience (ISO/G-code); experience with tool-design software a plus
• Willing to travel 40-60%
• Strong communication skills and a customer-facing mindset
• Technical degree or equivalent hands-on trade background preferred

Compensation and details

• Base salary: $90,000 - $120,000, plus standard benefits
• Direct-hire, full-time position based in Mundelein, IL
