The underlying IBM i infrastructure and operating system are hosted and managed by an external provider. • Investigate and resolve application defects, production issues, batch processing problems, and user-reported issues.

    • Modify existing application logic to support regulatory, licensing, and business process changes.

    • Analyze existing legacy code and business logic to identify root causes and implement appropriate solutions.

    IBM i Application Administration

    • Support application-level administration within the IBM i environment.

    • Manage user profiles, object-level authorities, and application security configurations.

    • Review IBM i audit information, including QAUDJRN, as needed for troubleshooting and security verification.

    • Monitor and manage application jobs, job queues, subsystems, and scheduling activities.

    • Coordinate with the external hosting provider regarding system maintenance, environmental changes, and infrastructure-related issues.

    • Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and restoration verification activities.

    DB2 for i & Integration

    • Develop and execute SQL queries against DB2 for i.

    • Troubleshoot and optimize database queries and indexes where appropriate.

    • Support application interfaces and automated file transfers using FTP/SFTP.

    • Troubleshoot data exchanges between IBM i applications and external/state systems.

    Modernization & Data Migration Support

    • Assist with extracting, cleaning, and archiving data from legacy IBM i databases.

    • Document application workflows, database structures, dependencies, and legacy business logic.

    • Support database and cloud teams during legacy application modernization and migration initiatives.

    • Help identify application and data dependencies that may impact migration activities.

    Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting applications on AS400 / IBM i / iSeries environments.

    • Strong hands-on experience with RPG IV, ILE RPG, RPGLE, and CL/CLLE.

    • Strong experience with DB2 for i and SQL.

    • Experience troubleshooting production applications, batch jobs, and legacy application issues.

    • Experience with IBM i application administration, including jobs, job queues, subsystems, user profiles, and object-level security.

    • Experience with FTP/SFTP and application integrations.

    • Experience working with hosted or managed IBM i environments and coordinating with external infrastructure/support teams.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting legacy-to-cloud migration, data extraction, or data archiving initiatives.

    • Experience with Rational Developer for i (RDi).

    • Experience working with state government, public-sector, insurance, or regulatory applications.

    • Experience documenting legacy application architecture, business rules, and database dependencies.

    • Familiarity with IBM i backup, disaster recovery, and restoration processes.

    Work Environment
