ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Senior Application Developer with deep GenTax expertise for a state government tax agency supporting Motor Vehicle Title and Registration, Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Tax Processing, and Property Tax systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced GenTax developer looking to take on a senior role with meaningful system ownership and technical leadership responsibilities.
Design, develop, and maintain software applications within the GenTax system using C# and SQL, including writing advanced SQL queries and implementing API services to support business requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions and workflow designs
Consume, update, and create API services using both SOAP and RESTful architectures
Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to application performance, functionality, and integration points
Identify problems or potential problem areas and recommend solutions proactively
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
Stay current with GenTax platform updates and industry trends to propose improvements and innovative solutions
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing and developing solutions within the GenTax system - this is a non-negotiable requirement
Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and C# using Visual Studio
Proficiency consuming, updating, and creating API services (SOAP and RESTful)
Strong experience in functional requirements gathering and translating requirements into technical specifications through system analysis and workflow/process design
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
Solid understanding of Tax Commission business processes in relation to the GenTax system
Experience implementing data conversion processes during GenTax software version upgrades
Work experience as an IT Architect
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and mentor team members across skill levels
