Duration: 5-month contract with possible extension.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Developer to join our AI team team. This system uses LLMs, vector embeddings, and rule-based recommendation engines to generate and manage personalized selling points for financial products. You will contribute to both backend development, building new features, improving system reliability, and collaborating with a small agile team.

Core Responsibilities

• Work with PostgreSQL for database operations, including schema design and query optimization
• Integrate with Azure OpenAI and embedding models for LLM-powered features
• Write strong clean typed Python code that's production ready
• Write unit and integration tests (pytest) with high coverage; participate in code reviews
• Collaborate with the team on architecture decisions, code quality, and technical documentation

Qualifications

• 5 years of professional software development experience
• Strong proficiency in Python (3.10 ), FastAPI, and async/await patterns
• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, migrations)
• Experience integrating with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) and building AI-powered features
• Understanding of vector databases/embeddings and RAG architectures
• Experience with building test suites, golden data sets, and LLM evaluation
• Some familiarity with LLM components such as tokenization, cache, etc.
• Strong code quality practices — type annotations, linting, automated testing
• Excellent communication skills; ability to work independently in a distributed team
• Experience in financial services or enterprise software development is a plus
• Familiarity with Pydantic, dependency injection patterns, and repository-pattern architectures is a plus
