Overview:

Are you an experienced technology leader who enjoys designing scalable enterprise systems, guiding modernization efforts, and translating complex business needs into thoughtful application architecture? StaffBuffalo is working with a large, established organization in the Buffalo area to hire an Application Architect, offering $90,000 to $130,000 annually plus annual bonus potential and a strong benefits package.

In this role, the Application Architect will serve as a senior technical leader for enterprise application architecture, integration strategy, data flow standards, and long-term application roadmaps across multiple business areas. You will partner with IT leadership, business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to align current systems with future-state architecture, support enterprise implementations, and improve consistency across a complex application environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic, hands-on architecture professional who brings a strong full-stack development foundation, proven technical leadership experience, and the communication skills to influence stakeholders at multiple levels. This position is based in the Buffalo area and offers the chance to contribute to meaningful enterprise technology initiatives within a stable, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior technical leader for enterprise application architecture, integration architecture, and application modernization initiatives.
  • Define current-state and target-state application architectures across multiple business domains and enterprise platforms.
  • Establish application, integration, and data flow standards that support consistency, scalability, security, and long-term sustainability.
  • Guide system integration, platform modernization, application rationalization, and technology roadmap efforts.
  • Partner with IT leadership, business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to ensure architectural alignment across projects.
  • Provide architecture oversight during system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and data migration initiatives.
  • Evaluate applications and platforms to recommend retain, retire, replace, or modernize strategies based on business and technical needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • 7+ years of full-stack development experience, including experience as both a developer and technical lead.
  • 5+ additional years of experience in application architecture, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture roles.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional system implementations and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application ecosystems, including ERP, HRIS, CIS/Billing, and integration platforms.
  • Experience with cloud-based enterprise platforms, hybrid architectures, enterprise transformations, or mergers preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical teams, business leaders, vendors, and executive audiences.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of $90,000 to $130,000 plus annual cash bonus potential.
  • Comprehensive medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match and company-funded retirement savings contributions.
  • Paid time off, paid company holidays, and flexible scheduling options.
  • Tuition reimbursement, professional development support, and long-term career growth opportunities.
  • Parental leave, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and flexible spending account options.
  • Supportive, inclusive environment where hard work, collaboration, and internal advancement are valued.
