The instructor will teach Apple Device Support courses at Mesa Community College, preparing students to support and troubleshoot Apple devices in large organizational environments as level 1-2 help desk professionals. Instruction emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, device setup and restoration, user and system management, network and security configuration, and use of Apple tools and resources aligned with the Apple Device Support course and Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) certification exam. The instructor will help students develop the technical, problem-solving, and professional skills needed for entry-level roles in Apple device support and will connect coursework to the Enterprise IT Professional for Apple Technology and Jamf Training Foundation pathway at MCC.

Essential Functions

  • Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom, lab, and/or online settings focused on Apple device support, troubleshooting, and help desk workflows for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS.
  • Develops written syllabi and course outlines for Apple Device Support noncredit and/or credit-aligned offerings, integrating Apple's official training resources, tutorials, and practice activities that map to the Apple Device Support exam objectives.
  • Designs, delivers, and evaluates hands-on learning activities in which students configure, restore, and troubleshoot Apple devices; manage user accounts, system and network settings, security and privacy features, and basic MDM-related workflows.
  • Assesses students' mastery of course competencies through assignments, labs, practice scenarios, quizzes, and exams; maintains accurate scholastic records in accordance with college policies.
  • Utilizes departmental and college technologies and support systems (e.g., Canvas LMS, virtual labs, remote support tools) to maximize student learning and engagement in Apple-focused courses.
  • Maintains up-to-date subject-matter expertise in Apple platform support, including current macOS, iOS, and iPadOS versions, Apple ID and iCloud services, security features, and Apple's recommended troubleshooting practices; aligns curriculum with Apple Device Support learning objectives and ACSP requirements.
  • Collaborates with colleagues, the Maricopa Information Technology Institute (MITI), and industry partners to ensure the Apple Device Support curriculum is current, workforce-aligned, and supportive of stackable pathways into Jamf Training Foundation and related coursework.
  • Provides structured exam preparation guidance, including review of objectives, study strategies, and practice activities that help students prepare to sit for the Apple Device Support certification exam and earn the Apple Certified Support Professional digital badge.
  • Provides regular feedback, coaching, and support to help students build technical confidence, customer-service skills, and professional readiness for Apple device support and help desk roles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
