Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current Michigan Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license (or ability to obtain)
- National board certification appropriate to specialty and licensure
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Prior experience in Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, Hospital Medicine, or a related specialty preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
Duties & Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Evaluating and managing patients in the Intensive Care Unit in collaboration with Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians
- Conducting inpatient pulmonary consultations and follow-up visits
- Providing outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine care, including new patient evaluations and follow-up appointments
- Assessing, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for patients with pulmonary and sleep disorders
- Interpreting diagnostic testing, including pulmonary function tests and sleep study results, as appropriate
- Performing procedures consistent with APP training, credentialing, and organizational policies
- Documenting patient encounters and care plans in Epic EMR
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient care
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects
- Educating patients and families regarding disease management, treatment plans, and preventive care
- Supporting clinical programs focused on lung cancer screening, lung nodule management, and pulmonary disease management
