Department Details Marshfield Medical Center - Weston is seeking a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Wausau/Weston, Wisconsin. The NP or PA is a skilled member of the allied health care team who is qualified both academically and clinically to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner works within a cooperative unit utilizing team effort with health care providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.

In this role, you will provide hospital support and rounding, ordering tests, and conduct pre-op and post-op care.

Job Summary The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced nursing care to patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions. This includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care in collaboration with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team. The NP promotes patient education and disease prevention.

• Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments including histories, physical exams, and interpretation of diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests).
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists.
• Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state licensure and hospital policy.
• Manage patients with heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and other cardiovascular conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
• Provide patient education regarding disease processes, medications, lifestyle modifications, and risk factor reduction.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and services.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• This position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Qualifications

• Completion of a masters, post-masters, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
• If Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, masters degree in nursing is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiology or acute care preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• State Controlled Substance License if required by State.
• National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC). Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader.
• Family FNP-BC or FNP-C, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or A-GNP certification.
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
• Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications criteria and scope of practice if variation between documents exists.
