Department Details

This provider will be in general cardiology with inpatient and outpatient responsibilities. Provider will work primarily from 7am-5pm matching the outpatient schedule.

Job Summary

The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced nursing care to patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions. This includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care in collaboration with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team. The NP promotes patient education and disease prevention. Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments including histories, physical exams, and interpretation of diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests).

Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists.

Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state licensure and hospital policy.

Manage patients with heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and other cardiovascular conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.

Provide patient education regarding disease processes, medications, lifestyle modifications, and risk factor reduction.

Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and services.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as appropriate.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

This position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Qualifications

Completion of a master's, postmaster's, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

If Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master"s degree in nursing is preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiology or acute care preferred.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.

Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.

State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)

National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC). Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP-C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP) certification

Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
