An Apigee Developer specializes in designing, securing, and managing APIs using Google Cloud's Apigee API management platform. They create API proxies, implement security policies (OAuth, API keys), and handle traffic management to connect backend services with applications. Key skills include API design (REST/SOAP/GraphQL), CI/CD automation, and using analytics for performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

· API Proxy Development: Building and configuring API proxies using the Apigee UI or IDEs.
· Security & Policy Enforcement: Implementing security measures like OAuth, API key validation, rate limiting, and spike arrest
.Automation (CI/CD): Deploying Apigee configurations using tools like Terraform, Maven plugins, or Apigee X Config API.
· Integration: Connecting legacy, on-premises, or hybrid cloud backend systems.
· Developer Portal Management: Using built-in API documentation, publishing, and developer onboarding.
· Analytics and Monitoring: Creating custom analytics reports to monitor API usage and health. Common Tools Used
· Postman: For testing API requests.
· Splunk: For logging and monitoring.
· Apigee X or Edge: The core platform.

Typical Experience
· 7+ years in API development. · Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, XML, and JSON. · Experience with API security standards and OAuth.
