BG Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable Apartment Maintenance Technician to join a community in Gary, Indiana. We are looking for a motivated professional with strong general maintenance knowledge who can hit the ground running and provide exceptional service to residents while helping maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the property.

Position Overview

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for completing service requests, assisting with apartment turns, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the community remains safe, attractive, and well-maintained. This role will support a HUD property, making previous affordable housing or HUD experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident service requests in a timely and professional manner
• Perform general apartment and building maintenance
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance issues
• Assist with apartment make-readies and unit turnovers
• Perform painting, drywall, carpentry, and basic repair work
• Maintain grounds and common areas as needed
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety standards
• Assist with maintaining property curb appeal and cleanliness
• Participate in team projects and property improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Previous apartment maintenance or multifamily maintenance experience required

• Experience working at a HUD or affordable housing community is highly preferred

• Strong knowledge of:

• Plumbing repairs

• Electrical troubleshooting

• Appliance repair

• Drywall and painting

• Carpentry

• General maintenance procedures

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

• Reliable transportation

• Professional attitude with excellent customer service skills

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull maintenance equipment and materials as needed

• Must be dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
