Accounts Payable Specialist

Location: Tampa, FL

Schedule: 100% Onsite

Position Type: Temp-to-Hire

Pay Rate: Up to $24.00 per hour DOE

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing finance team in Tampa. This role supports a multi-location operation and is ideal for someone who enjoys a high-volume environment, has strong attention to detail, and thrives on building positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be outgoing, organized, and eager to contribute to a collaborative team. Candidates with 2-3 years of Accounts Payable experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume accounts payable transactions for multiple business locations
  • Review, verify, and reconcile vendor invoices for accuracy and approval
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation
  • Code invoices to appropriate accounts and cost centers
  • Prepare and process vendor payments, including checks and electronic payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Monitor payment schedules and identify available discounts
  • Research and resolve invoice, purchase order, and payment issues
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
  • Process employee expense reimbursements and related payment requests
  • Track outstanding credits, adjustments, and vendor memos
  • Assist with sales tax reporting requirements
  • Support month-end close activities and other accounting projects as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information at all times

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience preferred
  • Experience working in a high-volume AP environment
  • Strong understanding of invoice processing, reconciliations, and vendor management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage software
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and reporting
  • Experience supporting multiple locations or entities

Pay Details: $22.00 to $24.00 per hour
