Candidate also to provide orientation & mobility (O&M) instruction to visually impaired students. Duties & Responsibilities:Required: Conduct functional vision assessmentsConsult with families so they can understand the students' specific strengths and need and can help support student's travel skills.Consult with school personnel to ensure supports and accommodations for students' safe travel throughout the school environments.Provide direct instruction in O&M based on the students' IEP goals.Develop Orientation & Mobility (O&M) IEP goals, including goals related to public transport and community travel for the blind students.Conduct O&M assessments for all children with visual impairments who are referred by the educational team through their designated LEA representative. Preferred:Provides instruction in vision techniques and in the use of vision-related materials and devices including, but not limited to, visual efficiency skills, utilization of residual vision, concept and sensory development, spatial orientation, familiarization to environments, and utilization of tactile, visual and auditory mapsTeaches students using curriculum, and instructional methods and techniques which enhance the student's ability to improve independent functioningInterpret implications of Visual Impairment to all members of the school community.Assure that the student has all educational materials in the appropriate media.Participate in the multidisciplinary team to develop IEP's and other similar documents. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required, Master's Degree strongly preferredPA Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification requiredOrientation & Mobility, ACVREP Certification requiredCurrent police and child abuse and FBI Fingerprints requiredClearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire.)
