Animal Technician II (Phoenix, AZ)

• Provides care to laboratory rodents; feed, water, changing cages, and health assessments on a daily basis.
• Performs basic breeding colony tasks, such as separating breeders and weaning litters.
• Administers treatments to animals as prescribed by Veterinarians.
• Assists in the training of new and existing employees in routine animal care procedures.
• Performs cage wash duties, bagging and consolidation of caging for recycle, trash removal, disinfection of carts/racks.
• Sets up clean caging for use in rooms and stocks store room, etc.
• Completes necessary documentation daily such as:
• Notifications to the investigators about weans, arriving animals, animal deaths, etc.
• Notifications to Vet Services requesting sick animal be examined.
• Notifications to their managers regarding room issues, rack issues, and flooded cages.
• Fills out cage card for weaned or split cages and turning in the strips for processing.
• Fills out the information on the bags of dead animals.
• Submits recharge information to business office.
• Submits maintenance requests.
• Fills out the Environmental Assessment sheet for each room they go in: humidity (high, low, current), temperature (high, low, current), time in and out of room, lighting and light timer assessments, number of AERFs submitted, number of animals found dead, information about flooded cages, number of cages, or cage components changed, other work performed in room, airflow checks, sanitation work done, what types of notifications set, animal/room observations, what type of notifications were sent.
