Description

The Fountain Group is currently seeking an Animal Research Technician for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Athens, GA. Details for the position are as follows:

Animal Research Technician
Location: Athens GA
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Duration: 1 year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM; weekend overtime at least once monthly; occasional holidays/evening coverage

Job Description

  • Perform animal husbandry and healthcare activities in accordance with experimental protocols, Animal Welfare Act regulations, NIH guidelines, USDA requirements, and AAALAC standards.
  • Provide daily animal care including feeding, watering, enrichment, health monitoring, restraint, treatment, and welfare assessments.
  • Support clinical research procedures, experimental treatment administration, sample collection, and necropsy activities.
  • Maintain animal rooms, pens, feeders, drinking systems, livestock handling equipment, and sanitation areas.
  • Perform biosecurity activities including water system sanitation, fomite decontamination, feed handling, and environmental sample collection.
  • Maintain accurate animal care, health, study protocol, USDA, and experimental records.
  • Work within Biosafety Level 1 and Level 2 laboratory environments.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Biology, or related education preferred.
