Animal Research Technician
+ 1 year Contract @ $20/hour
Position Overview
The Animal Research Technician performs animal husbandry, health care, and scientific procedures in accordance with experimental protocols, applicable regulations, and company policies. This position supports animal welfare, research activities, documentation, equipment sanitation, biosecurity, and facility maintenance within an animal research laboratory setting.
Work Schedule
+ Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
+ Hours: At least 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform animal husbandry, health assessments, treatments, and routine care in compliance with study protocols, animal welfare regulations, and company procedures.
+ Monitor animals for illness, distress, or abnormalities and communicate concerns to the Site Veterinarian or Group/Team Leader.
+ Assist with research procedures, including experimental treatments, clinical observations, sample collection, sedation, euthanasia, and necropsies as directed.
+ Collect and document clinical and research samples, including blood, feces, oral fluids, swabs, and tissues.
+ Maintain accurate animal care, health, regulatory, and study-related records.
+ Maintain animal facilities and equipment, including cleaning, sanitation, repairs, and upkeep of pens, feeders, and water systems.
+ Perform biosecurity activities, including sanitation, decontamination, and environmental sampling.
+ Follow all applicable USDA, Animal Welfare Act, NIH, AAALAC, and company requirements.
+ Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment and provide guidance to junior team members when delegated.
Qualifications :
+ HS Diploma or equivalent
+ Previous animal care experience (lab, vet, academic etc).
