POSITION SUMMARY
To maintain the facilities, systems, and equipment to the optimum conditions of the company's strictest quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Evaluate hatching egg quality and select eggs suitable for incubation and breeding program objectives.
  • Evaluate breeding stock and select parent birds based on genetic, phenotypic, and reproductive performance data.
  • Maintain pedigree and genetic records for breeding populations.
  • Coordinate mating plans and controlled breeding strategies to achieve genetic improvement objectives.
  • Monitor and maintain holding room environmental conditions, including temperature, airflow, and humidity, to optimize egg viability and embryo development.
  • Schedule egg set dates and times according to production requirements and embryo development protocols.
  • Program and calibrate incubators and hatchers to appropriate incubation profiles based on breeder flock characteristics and developmental requirements.
  • Monitor incubators and hatchers to ensure proper temperature, airflow, humidity, and egg-turning parameters throughout the incubation process.
  • Continuously monitor environmental conditions and make adjustments to maximize fertility, hatchability, and chick quality.
  • Calculate and schedule egg transfer timing between incubation stages to support optimal embryo development.
  • Perform quality control inspections during egg transfer procedures to ensure compliance with hatchery standards and breeding objectives.
  • Evaluate chick quality at hatch and document performance indicators related to breeder flock productivity and incubation effectiveness.
  • Analyze hatch residue and embryo mortality data to identify trends and implement corrective actions that improve reproductive performance and hatch success.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of poultry breeding and reproductive management programs designed to improve fertility, hatchability, flock performance, and genetic quality.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze reproductive, hatchery, and production records to support breeding decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate breeder flock reproductive performance and provide recommendations to optimize breeding outcomes.
  • Collaborate with animal scientists, veterinarians, and production personnel to investigate reproductive issues and improve embryo development processes.
  • Conduct routine sanitation of incubators, hatchers, and hatchery equipment to maintain biosecurity and support healthy embryo development.
  • Ensure compliance with hatchery, biosecurity, animal welfare, and food safety standards.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and diagnose generators and essential hatchery support equipment to ensure uninterrupted environmental control systems.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations, hatchery areas, and equipment maintenance shops.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records regarding incubation performance, fertility, hatchability, chick quality, and breeder flock reproductive metrics.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.
  • Ability to comply with the strictest standards for animal welfare and to report incidents of abuse, neglect, or breach of biosecurity to preserve the health and welfare of our birds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university;
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training
  • Previous Animal Husbandry and supervisory experience preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The employee must be able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The employee must also be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The employee must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The employee must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. The employee must have the ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
The employee must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations that only limited standardization exists. The employee must also be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
If the employee is required to use a pallet jack, a pallet jack certificate is required. Will receive training in safety and internal HACCP as well as any other training as decided by the General Manager.
