Job Title: Anchor/Reporter - Telemundo WSOC TV
Position Overview
Telemundo Charlotte, part of the WSOC newsroom, is seeking an enterprising and energetic Anchor/Reporter to help grow the market's only Spanish-language TV newscast. This position requires a newsroom leader who can confidently anchor newscasts, react to breaking news, and produce impactful stories for Noticias Charlotte. This journalist will also produce and share content for Noticias Charlotte on digital and social media.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Bilingual, with excellent Spanish-writing skills.
- Assist in writing, pre-production and broadcast preparation; ensuring stories are clear/accurate and represent the station's benchmark goals
- Deliver news copy on camera with confidence
- Use creativity and imagination, and exercise independent professional judgment in investigating, reporting, interviewing, writing, editing and delivering news stories and assigned events
- Research, write and update news stories
- Create relevant, important and memorable newscasts.
- Develop graphics for production by Design Department
- Work closely with Managing Editor daily on rundown decisions and live opportunities
- Work closely with news team to create compelling news segments, and maintain high production standards
- Work in the Control Room during broadcast to oversee presentation and changes in format
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- BA Degree in Journalism, Communications, or other discipline preferred
- 2-3 years' experience as a Reporter required; anchoring experience strongly preferred
