    Job Description:

    Our Opportunity:

At Chewy, the Finance and Accounting Business Intelligence team builds trusted reporting and analytics solutions that help our partners make faster, data-backed decisions. We are seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to design, develop, and maintain dashboards, data products, and analytical workflows that support financial reporting, planning, and operational decision-making.

This team serves a broad audience across Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, and other business functions. In this role, you will partner directly with users to understand requirements, translate complex questions into scalable solutions, and deliver clear, reliable reporting. Your work will span report development, data modeling, pipeline support, automation, and analysis using tools such as Tableau, Sigma, SQL, Python, and cloud data platforms.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical and analytical skills with curiosity, ownership, and clear communication. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is passionate about data, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and motivated to improve how Chewy turns financial and operational data into trusted insights.

    What You'll Do:

    • Own the design, development, testing, and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and analytical content that support critical Finance and Accounting decisions.
    • Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements, define metrics, and translate user needs into scalable, high-quality BI solutions.
    • Design and maintain semantic views that provide trusted business context, standardized metrics, and governed data for AI agent consumption.
    • Develop self-service reporting and visualizations in Tableau, Sigma, or similar tools, with a focus on usability, performance, and trusted data.
    • Build and support SQL transformations, data models, pipelines, and API-driven integrations that deliver accurate and timely analytical datasets.
    • Champion reporting and analysis best practices, including data integrity, test design, validation, documentation, and change management.
    • Provide leadership and business partners with recurring and ad hoc analyses that clearly communicate findings, trends, risks, and opportunities.
    • Identify automation opportunities using Python, AWS, AI, or other technologies to simplify workflows and reduce manual effort.
    • Investigate data discrepancies and reporting issues, coordinate resolution across teams, and communicate impacts and next steps to stakeholders.
    • Continuously improve reporting, data products, and development processes to increase the quality, accessibility, and value of Chewy's data.

    What You'll Need:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence engineering, analytics engineering, report development, or a related data discipline.
    • Strong SQL skills, including complex transformations and experience working with columnar or cloud-based data warehouses.
    • Hands-on experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions in Tableau or a similar BI and visualization tool.
    • Working knowledge of Python and experience supporting data pipelines, APIs, automation scripts, or analytical workflows.
    • Ability to acquire data from multiple sources, maintain reusable data structures, and validate datasets for analytical use.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings to subject matter experts and executive leadership.
    • Comfort with self-directed learning, changing priorities, and taking ownership in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

    Bonus:

    • Experience with AWS, Snowflake, and/or Sigma.
    • Experience supporting Finance and Accounting analytics or reporting.
    • Familiarity with dbt, dimensional data modeling, or automated testing.
    • A strong ownership mentality and continuous-improvement mindset.
