About the role

The Pricing Optimization Associate supports pricing analytics and decision support across Gap brand. In this role, you will complete foundational analyses and prepare inputs for pricing strategy, price testing, competitive pricing insights, pricing architecture, promotion scenario planning, markdown optimization, yield management, and forecast tuning. This role operates as part of Gap Inc.'s Pricing, Planning Analytics, and Inventory Optimization function, working with business partners and more experienced team members while following consistent decision standards, approved AI-enabled tools, and transparent analytical methods.

What you'll do

Analytical Execution

  • Complete recurring pricing analyses, data preparation, model inputs, scenario runs, reporting, and recommendation materials using established methods and templates.
  • Check data and outputs for completeness and accuracy; identify inconsistencies, risks, and patterns, and escalate questions when needed.
  • Prepare clear summaries, visuals, and decision-support materials that explain findings and relevant business implications.
  • Maintain accurate records of assumptions, outputs, approvals, actions, and hindsights in the decision log.

Scenario Support and Insight Development

  • Support pricing, promotion, markdown, and yield-management scenarios; learn how revenue, margin, sell-through, customer value, and inventory exposure shape trade-offs.
  • Analyze elasticity, competitive, category, channel, and customer signals and summarize implications for pricing recommendations and guardrails.
  • Coordinate with GMM, Merchandising, Planning, Inventory Optimization, Pricing Operations, and Finance to gather inputs, confirm execution constraints, and support approved price actions.
  • Share analyses with peers across Planning, Pricing, and Inventory Optimization to connect work and reduce siloed execution.

Tools, AI and Continuous Learning

  • Use approved AI-enabled tools, models, dashboards, and agents responsibly; validate outputs against source data, business context, and known constraints, seeking guidance for exceptions.
  • Build knowledge of Gap Inc. planning, pricing, inventory, merchandising, and financial processes and apply that knowledge to assigned work.
  • Follow established workflows and contribute practical ideas to improve templates, data quality, recurring work, and the usability of insights.

Business Partnership and Quality Contribution

  • Deliver accurate, timely work; communicate progress and risks, seek feedback, and bring curiosity, responsiveness, and a service mindset to business partners and team members.

Who you are

  • Bachelor degree required in business, economics, finance, analytics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, retail, or related field.
  • 1+ years of relevant analytical experience in retail, planning, pricing, inventory, finance, data analytics, consulting, or related fields.
  • Foundational analytical, modeling, communication, and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn data into clear findings and practical next steps.
  • Exposure to retail, apparel, consumer products, consulting, finance, data analytics, planning, pricing, inventory, or merchandising preferred.
  • Comfort using Excel and data tools; exposure to BI platforms, SQL, Python, forecasting, optimization, pricing tools, or AI-enabled workflows preferred.
  • Structured learner who follows established methods, asks thoughtful questions, and communicates clearly.
  • Commercially curious and detail-oriented; interested in how customer, product, revenue, margin, inventory, service, and execution factors connect.
  • Enterprise-minded and brand-aware; applies common standards while learning relevant brand context.
  • Comfortable using AI-enabled tools and agentic workflows with human review, appropriate validation, and timely escalation of exceptions or risks.
  • Collaborative team member who builds trust, responds with urgency, welcomes feedback, and contributes to continuous improvement.

About Company

Doris and Don Fisher opened the first Gap store in 1969 with a simple idea -- to make it easier to find a pair of jeans and a commitment to do more. Over the last 46 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with five brands -- Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta and Intermix. Gap's clothes are available in 90 countries worldwide through 3,300 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing. Many companies work to improve their services and businesses every day by using GAP Testers who anonymously go into various places and report back to the companies on everything from cleanliness, customer service to quality control. Being a tester is a very flexible, fun job with lots of benefits.
