Job Description and Duties
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-Time Analyst II or a highly qualified Analyst I as the Return-to-Work Coordinator for the Human Resources Benefit Unit. This position is under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Benefit Manager (Supervisor I). Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies during the life of this recruitment.
The Analyst I/II will share the responsibility with other Return-to-Work Coordinators (RTWC), to plan, organize, and manage the hospital's Return-to-Work Program. The Return-to-Work Coordinator serves as the hospital's liaison for injured workers, the medical community, management, and State Compensation Insurance Fund. The Analyst I/II performs independent and complex tasks as the Return-to-Work Coordinator, responsibilities include but are not limited to, managing and maintaining workers' compensation claims and the case management of non-work-related cases. This is completed in coordination with State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF).
The Analyst I/II will review settlement authority requests (SARs) from SCIF and make settlement recommendations to hospital administrators to accept, modify or decline. This may include consulting with DSH RTW Coordinators and Supervisors/Managers, SCIF, physicians, legal offices, Human Resources, etc., and analyze the information gathered to ensure criteria are met and all options considered for finalization when making recommendations to DSH executive management. The RTWC conducts New Employee Orientation (NEO) and may participate on assigned committees and provide reports/recommendations as delegated.
The individual must be willing to work overtime as required on demand with little or last-minute notice and may be required to travel. Excellent attendance and dependability are a must and critical for a position of this level of responsibility.

Working Conditions
Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

The Human Resources Benefits Unit is looking for a highly analytical, motivated, and meticulous professional. Experience in workers' compensation, return to work practices, and/or human resource processes and practices is greatly desired. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint is required.
The successful candidate will be required to maintain a professional appearance even while under intense pressure and multiple deadlines. The analyst must have excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and multi-tasking abilities. The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills and work with all levels of hospital management, the DSH Workers' Compensation unit, Human Resources Units, and SCIF.
