Working under the supervision of the Director of External Affairs, the Legislative Affairs Analyst implements and manages the Coastal Conservancy's legislative affairs and communications. The Analyst assesses potential legislation, coordinates with California Natural Resources Agency legislative team, develops a legislative outreach plan, and coordinates communication with legislative offices and stakeholders based in Sacramento.

Working Conditions

• Position Headquarters (HQ) is in a high-rise building in Sacramento, CA.
• Work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
• The employee is required to be in the office 4 days per week, which is subject to change. The employee can telework the remaining day, also subject to change.
• A computer for telework use will be provided.
• Travel to meetings and project sites may be required.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Both indoor and outdoor work is common.
• May have to stand for long periods.
• May require an employee to work in adversarial situations.
• Multitask, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities in a cooperative manner.

Department Information

The Coastal Conservancy is a state agency that undertakes and supports projects to protect, restore and enhance coastal resources, promote resilience to climate change impacts, and increase opportunities for the public to enjoy the coast. The Conservancy works along the entire length of California's coast and within the watersheds of rivers and streams that extend inland from the coast. The Conservancy also works throughout the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area and the entire Santa Ana River watershed. The Conservancy awards and oversees grants to local governments, other state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and tribes, using various types of funding, including bond funds, federal funds, and mitigation fees. The Conservancy is a small agency of 81 dedicated, experienced employees who work collaboratively and creatively to achieve the Conservancy's mission.
