    General Statement of Job

    The Benefits and Leave Analyst will facilitate the administration of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and accommodations under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Benefits and Leave Analyst works with the Senior Benefits Manager to ensure leave cases are handled accurately and in compliance with state/federal laws.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:
    • Manage complex and escalated leave of absence cases, including FMLA, ADA, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and military leave.
    • Support the ADA interactive process: evaluate restrictions, explore accommodation options and document each step.
    • Ensures compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and institutional policies.
    • Ensures compliance with Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) regulations and institutional policies.
    • Review and process leave requests, determine eligibility, and account for various types of leave, including intermittent and continuous.
    • Escalate discrepancies or compliance risks to the Senior Benefits Manager and/or Director of Benefits and Compensation; accompanied by documented findings.
    • Prepares all payroll maintenance and supporting documentation related to extended absences in a timely manner to comply with applicable federal and state laws and College policies and procedures.
    • Develops and conducts training sessions regarding Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave of Absence, other extended absences and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
    • Provides vendors with appropriate documentation for work related injuries/illnesses, life, pension, and disability benefits claims.
    • Maintains confidentiality related to sensitive information.
    • Assists with policy and procedure maintenance related to benefits and absences.
    • Works closely with the Senior Manager - Benefits and Director of Benefits and Compensation for ad hoc requests.
    • Travels throughout campus as needed.
    • Assists with coordinating and attends annual enrollment, benefits, wellness, and retirement fairs, as needed.
    • Coordinates and facilitates employee benefit plans.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • At least two (2) years of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or Americans with Disability Act (ADA) experience required.
    • Working knowledge and experience of benefit programs in higher educational setting is highly preferred.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Excellent customer service.
    • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
    • Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred.
    • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout Hidalgo and Starr counties using own means of reliable transportation.
    • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.
