Title: Analyst / Associate Special Servicing & Distressed Asset Management

Office Status: Hybrid Charlotte, NC

Base Salary: $100k - $130k + Bonus

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an Analyst or Associate-level opportunity within the Special Servicing team of a well-established commercial real estate investment management and special servicing firm with a named servicing portfolio exceeding $20 billion. The role offers broad and hands-on exposure to non-performing loan management, distressed asset resolution, REO asset management, and workout strategy development across all major property types including office, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and industrial. It's an ideal entry point for an early-career CRE professional with 1 3 years of relevant experience who is looking to build deep expertise in asset resolution, valuation, and loan workout strategies within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the asset management team in overseeing a portfolio of non-performing and distressed commercial real estate loans and REO assets across multiple property types
  • Assist in the development and execution of workout and recovery strategies including financial analysis, market research, and borrower engagement
  • Conduct valuation and cash flow analyses using Excel and Argus to evaluate resolution alternatives and support business plan recommendations
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and third-party service providers to advance foreclosure, workout, and disposition processes
  • Review and summarize loan documents to understand lender rights, covenants, and available remedies
  • Prepare internal memoranda, committee materials, and borrower correspondence related to asset strategy and performance
  • Support the evaluation and approval of borrower requests for ownership transfers, debt assumptions, major leases, and other loan modifications
  • Coordinate across internal teams and assist with other initiatives across the firm's various business lines
