Ambulatory Service Representative

Location: Houston, TX

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm

Starting Pay Rate: $20.00 Hourly (Based on experience)

Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Ambulatory Service Representative to support a fast-paced practice in Houston, TX. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels in patient access, scheduling, and front-office operations while delivering exceptional service in both in-person and virtual care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and providers, delivering professional and compassionate customer service
  • Perform patient registration, verify demographics, and ensure completion of required documentation
  • Review appointment details, insurance coverage, and patient history to streamline check-in and check-out processes
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments, including ancillary services and diagnostic testing
  • Verify insurance benefits, obtain referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications to ensure financial accuracy
  • Collect co-pays and pre-visit payments while maintaining the integrity of patient accounts
  • Communicate effectively with clinic staff regarding patient flow, delays, and scheduling updates
  • Support virtual visits by guiding patients through the process when applicable
  • Ensure interpreter services are arranged as needed
  • Manage inbound calls and outbound scheduling requests, including appointment work queues
  • Maintain office operations including supplies, equipment, and general administrative support
  • Assist in optimizing patient throughput and clinic efficiency

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience (healthcare setting preferred)
  • Experience in front desk, scheduling, or call center operations preferred
  • Familiarity with Epic or similar EMR systems preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
