Overview:
Join WakeMed’s Cary Cardiology team as a Temporary Ambulatory Care Nurse (RN) and make a direct impact on the care and experience of our patients. In this role, you’ll provide hands-on nursing care, help coordinate individualized plans of care, and serve as an important connection between patients, families, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team. This is a temporary assignment of three months, making it a great opportunity to bring your expertise to WakeMed while supporting an immediate need within our Cary Cardiology practices.
What You’ll Do
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to patients in an ambulatory cardiology setting.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including wound care assessments, and identify patient needs and appropriate interventions.
- Utilize strong IV skills to support patient care and treatment needs.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care.
- Identify patients who may benefit from additional care management support and help coordinate resources based on their individual needs.
- Serve as an advocate for patients and families throughout their care experience.
- Provide patient and family education to promote understanding, engagement, and successful management of care outside the clinic.
- Serve as a communication link between patients, families, providers, the interdisciplinary team, and appropriate community resources.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and care coordination accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
- Support professional nursing standards and best practices within the ambulatory care environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Registered Nurse with the appropriate current NC RN licensure for the position.
- Strong IV skills are a must.
- Experience performing wound care assessments.
- An RN who thrives in a fast-paced, high-visibility clinical environment and can confidently manage changing priorities.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong clinical judgment, assessment, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- A passion for delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
- Previous cardiology RN experience is preferred but not required.
- Previous EPIC experience is preferred but not required.
- Availability to support our Cary Cardiology team for a temporary assignment of at minimum of three months.
