The Position
OPEN EXAMINATION- ONE-YEAR PROBATIONARY PERIOD
Job Description: Under general supervision, this non-sworn mid-management position plans, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the effectiveness of the Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance transport component of the Glendale Fire Departments Emergency Medical Services Program. The position manages Ambulance Operator personnel, staffing, recruitment, onboarding, training, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, operational readiness, and assigned program resources.

This position reports to the EMS/Fire Battalion Chief.

Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Education:
An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Degree in a related field is required.
A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree is desirable.
Completion of either a Registered Nursing Program or a Paramedic Training Program is required.
Experience:
Five years of recent experience in the delivery of emergency medical care is required, one year of which must be in a supervisory capacity.
Experience in delivery of skills training and education is highly desirable.
Certifications/Licenses
Possession of a valid California Registered Nursing License or possession of a valid California State Paramedic License is required.
California Fire Service Training
Transportation:
A Valid California Class C Drivers License is required.

Selection Process
EVALUATION OF APPLICATION: Submitted Application will be reviewed to ensure applicants meet the minimum requirements. Only the most qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the selection process.
ORAL INTERVIEW: (Weight: 100%)To evaluate the applicants experience, education, and general background for the position.
Candidates must pass the exam with a minimum score of 70.00% in order to be placed on the eligible list.

TIME AND PLACE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED. Evaluations will be based on the candidates education and experience relevant to the position. Examinations will assess evaluate the candidates education, experience, knowledge and skills related to the job. If changes are necessary, candidates will be informed of the specific examination components and their weight before the examination is administered.
