Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; working in confined spaces; and exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, and cuts/punctures.
Shift
Day shift, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with some holiday requirements. Hours and days of the week are subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department. Holidays are not currently a requirement, but always subject to change. Requires some on-call. Fully Remote Schedule Available.
Job Summary
In this position, the candidate will provide pharmaceutical care to patients requiring infused medications through the UK Specialty Pharmacy. Responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison between the UK Specialty Pharmacy and UK's infusion centers; ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy is implemented for all patients in their care and monitoring care appropriately. Will also facilitate the formulary review process for infused medications; participate in appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to practice area; assume responsibility for supervising PharmD students, technicians, and undergraduate and graduate student teachers; and provide educational programs for hospital staff. Establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; a "team" mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience
PharmD and completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program (or equivalent experience) preferred.
