GenAI Application Developer – AWS / Amazon Connect (REMOTE)

About the Role

We are seeking an early-career GenAI Application Developer to join our team and help build innovative AI-powered applications for a modern AWS Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) platform.

This is an excellent opportunity for a software developer with 2–4 years of experience who wants to grow their skills in AWS, Generative AI, conversational AI, and Amazon Connect. You will work alongside senior developers, cloud engineers, and UI/UX professionals to develop intelligent voice and chat experiences that improve customer service through automation and real-time AI assistance.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Python, AWS Lambda, Amazon Connect, and Amazon Lex V2, along with an interest in emerging GenAI technologies such as Amazon Bedrock, RAG, OpenSearch, and Amazon Q in Connect.

What You’ll Do

Amazon Connect & Conversational AI

• Build, configure, and maintain Amazon Connect contact flows, routing profiles, queues, and voice/chat channels.
• Integrate Amazon Lex V2 bots into Amazon Connect for self-service, call deflection, and escalation.
• Configure Amazon Connect Contact Lens for transcription, sentiment analysis, summarization, analytics, and PII redaction.
• Support Amazon Q in Connect agent-assist workflows, knowledge sources, and guided experiences.
• Design conversational experiences with effective slot elicitation, error handling, and safe fallback patterns.
• Store and manage call/chat transcripts in Amazon S3 with appropriate encryption and retention controls.

AWS & GenAI Development

• Develop Python-based AWS Lambda functions to integrate and orchestrate cloud and AI services.
• Integrate Amazon Bedrock for LLM and embedding workflows.
• Develop and support Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions for knowledge retrieval and AI-assisted experiences.
• Implement Amazon OpenSearch indexing, vector search, and knowledge synchronization.
• Develop APIs and event-driven integrations between web applications, Amazon Connect, and AI services.
• Implement structured logging, testing, error handling, and performance/cost controls.

Security & Compliance

• Implement AI guardrails, prompt templates, and output evaluation processes.
• Apply security best practices including least-privilege IAM, encryption, KMS, and secure logging.
• Support PII minimization, redaction, and data-retention requirements.
• Participate in threat modeling and remediation of security findings.

DevSecOps & Operations

• Contribute to Git-based CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, testing, and technical documentation.
• Use CloudFormation or Infrastructure as Code to support AWS deployments.
• Create and maintain CloudWatch dashboards, alarms, and application monitoring.
• Develop runbooks, SOPs, and architecture documentation.
• Monitor application and contact-center metrics such as call deflection, average handle time, contact resolution, and AI utilization.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 2–4 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with relevant experience.
• 2+ years of software development experience using Python.
• Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting AWS Lambda functions.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Connect, including contact flows, routing profiles, queues, and voice/chat channels.
• Experience integrating Amazon Lex V2 with Amazon Connect.
• Understanding of conversational AI concepts such as intents, slot elicitation, error recovery, and fallback patterns.
• Experience with AWS CloudFormation or Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with Git-based CI/CD workflows.
• Foundational knowledge of AWS security practices, including IAM, KMS, encryption, and secure monitoring/logging.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with full Amazon Connect deployments, including telephony, contact attributes, and queue optimization.
• Experience with Amazon Connect Contact Lens.
• Experience with Amazon Q in Connect and agent-assist workflows.
• Experience with Amazon Bedrock, LLM APIs, embeddings, prompt engineering, and AI guardrails.
• Knowledge of RAG and vector search.
• Experience with Amazon OpenSearch, including vector indexes and k-NN/HNSW search.
• Experience with AWS KMS, S3 security, lifecycle policies, and cross-account access.
• Familiarity with AWS CloudFront and WAF.
• Experience with CloudWatch, X-Ray, Athena, or Glue.
• Understanding of PII protection, privacy, data retention, FISMA, or FedRAMP concepts.
• AWS certifications such as:
  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified AI Practitioner / Specialty
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
  • CISSP or CCSP
