About the Role

We are seeking a Shear Operator to join our fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position involves operating hydraulic and mechanical shearing machines to produce metal sheets and plates according to customer specifications, blueprints, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in machine operation within metal fabrication, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, manage tooling, and follow safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic and mechanical shearing machines to cut metal sheets and plates to specified sizes and angles
• Set up, program (if CNC), and adjust shearing machines to ensure accurate and efficient cuts
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and CAD/CAM files to understand job requirements
• Select, install, and align blades and supports for precise cutting operations
• Load sheet metal, secure fixtures, and remove finished pieces safely
• Load programs, make adjustments, and optimize CNC shear machine performance where applicable
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy, dimensions, and tolerances using measuring tools
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE during all operations
• Perform basic machinery maintenance and report malfunctions promptly
• Set up each job according to routing sheets and engineering instructions
• Use assigned tooling and equipment to efficiently complete tasks
• Maintain punctuality and reliable attendance
• Ensure products meet customer specifications and adhere to ISO 9001/AS9100 quality standards

Required Qualifications

• Experience operating hydraulic and mechanical shearing machines or similar metal fabrication equipment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and CAD/CAM files
• Skilled in tooling management, including blade selection and alignment
• Capable of performing basic machine adjustments and troubleshooting mechanical or CNC shear equipment
• Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE requirements for metal fabrication environments
• Punctuality and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience on CNC shear machines

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Standing for extended periods during shift
• Use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection is required at all times
• Fast-paced manufacturing setting
