    Description

Amada CNC Press Brake & Laser Fabrication Technician

    A day in this role

You start your shift reviewing engineered drawings and work orders. You load the correct material, choose the right dies, call up the appropriate programs on the Amada brake press and Amada laser, and make any tweaks needed for precise bends and clean cuts. As parts come off the laser, you shake them out, deburr them using both manual and automated tools, and route them to the next operation. Throughout the day, you sync with programmers, refine processes to shorten cycle times, and keep the work area 5S-ready. When needed, you jump in on the drill press to keep production moving. Raw stock gets sorted and stored using the forklift and overhead crane, and any alarms or cutting issues get diagnosed and resolved quickly.

    What you’ll do

    • Select correct materials, programs, and dies per work orders for the laser and press brake.
    • Set up tooling and retrieve preprogrammed instructions; make modifications as required for quality and accuracy.
    • Troubleshoot cutting conditions, worn or damaged tooling, and equipment alarms.
    • Continuously improve methods to elevate quality and reduce cycle time.
    • Deburr parts with manual and automatic equipment to meet spec.
    • Shake out completed laser parts and move them to the next routing step.
    • Sort and store raw materials with a forklift and overhead crane.
    • Collaborate daily with programmers and maintain a safe, clean, 5S-focused workspace.
    • Operate a drill press as needed to support throughput.

Skills that set you up for success

    • Team-oriented communicator with strong mechanical aptitude and blueprint literacy.
    • Comfortable with fractions/decimals and precision measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, micrometers, etc.).
    • Ability to solve ambiguous or undefined problems and adapt priorities as conditions change.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years operating similar equipment preferred.
    • Able to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.
    • Valid Driver’s License required.
    • Internal candidacy criteria: two (2) or fewer “Inconsistent” ratings on the most recent performance review are required to proceed to interviews; three (3) or more “Inconsistent” ratings disqualify.
