Shape the Future of Aluminum Manufacturing
Picture your night beginning with a quick handoff from the prior crew. You check the work order, prep the die, verify billet specs, and bring the aluminum extrusion press up to speed. Throughout the shift, you monitor gauges, fine-tune settings, and keep quality front and center—so every profile that leaves your press meets spec the first time. That’s a typical night for an Aluminum Extrusion Press Technician at Pennex.
What you’ll handle
- Set up the press: install/align dies, tooling, and related components for each run.
- Stage materials: load aluminum billet and confirm dimensions and alloy meet requirements.
- Run production: start, regulate, and adjust feed, temperature, and speed to maintain target output and profile quality.
- Verify quality: measure dimensions, watch for surface or shape defects, and use visual/mechanical checks to ensure compliance.
- Maintain equipment: clean, lubricate, swap worn parts, and troubleshoot minor issues to reduce downtime.
- Champion safety: follow procedures, operate responsibly, and flag hazards immediately.
- Optimize flow: track rates, minimize scrap, and tweak parameters for efficiency.
- Document work: record quantities, downtime, material usage, and any issues in a timely, accurate manner.
- Develop others: as needed, coach a Press Apprentice on processes and best practices.
- Communication: report issues to the Foreman and Lead Person.
- Flexibility: perform other duties as assigned.
