Alternative Format Technician - Temp Level 1 2 positions

The Alternative Format Technician is responsible for converting printed, digital, video, or multimedia materials into various accessible formats for students with disabilities. The technician will ensure that reformatted materials are available in a timely manner in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Training will be provided on the use of specialized software and formatting methods. The technician is expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in service, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the execution of their duties.

Essential Functions

• Converts inaccessible print materials into alternative formats utilizing book cutters, scanners, optical character recognition software, word processing applications, braille translation software, and braille embossers.
• Engages in regular communication, both in person and through various channels such as phone and email, with faculty, staff, students, and publishing companies.
• Manages complex organizational systems, including an information management database, local network drive folders, email inboxes, online drives, and digital calendars.
• Maintains consistent communication with fellow Alternative Format Technicians and supervisors to ensure that students receive timely services.
• Provides proctoring, scribing, or reading assistance for alternative testing situations as required.
• Maintains accurate records of assignments and project details.
• Completes additional responsibilities as assigned.
