    Alpine Lakes Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Para Educator to join our team at Peshastin-Dryden Elementary. This full-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and fostering an inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with special education teachers and staff to provide individualized support, ensuring that all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
    • Provide direct support to students in both classroom and one-on-one settings, facilitating learning and engagement.
    • Support students with daily living skills, personal care, and behavioral management as needed.
    • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student interaction and growth.
    • Participate in training and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education.
    • Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, organized, and supportive learning environment.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the special education teacher or school administration.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
    • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of special education laws, practices, and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
    • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
    • First Aid/CPR certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
    • Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.
